What You Need to Know About Stage 21
Time to say goodbye to León! Take one last look at that stunning cathedral, maybe grab a café con leche in one of the city’s charming cafés, and then it’s back on the trail for stage 21 of the Camino de Santiago.
Today you’re covering 24 moderately challenging kilometers over about 5 hours of walking from León to San Martín del Camino. After the big city energy, you’re heading back to the quieter, more contemplative vibe of smaller villages on The French Way.
Incredible milestone: You’ve now been walking the Camino Francés for three whole weeks! That’s roughly 500 kilometers since St. Jean Pied de Port. And here’s the exciting part – you’ve got less than 300 kilometers left to Santiago now. You can practically smell it!
The end is getting closer, but don’t rush it. These last few weeks are just as important as the first ones. Savor each day, each conversation, each sunset along the path.
Feeling strong or starting to feel the miles adding up? Our eBook „Camino Francés for Beginners“ offers tips for the final third of your journey, including how to deal with fatigue, prevent injuries, and stay motivated as Santiago gets closer.
Bottom line: Leaving the excitement of León behind for the peaceful rhythm of village life. You’re in the home stretch now – enjoy every step!
Buen Camino! 🥾
