What You Need to Know About Stage 13

Before we talk about today’s walk, let’s address the elephant in the room: You’ve already got 12 days of walking in your legs. That’s a lot! Burgos is actually the perfect spot to take a rest day if your body’s asking for one.

As the capital of the Burgos province, the city has plenty of sights to explore – or you can just chill out and do absolutely nothing. Sometimes an „off day“ means exactly that: resting, not sightseeing. Listen to what your body needs!

When you’re ready to move on: Stage 13 on the Camino de Santiago is super manageable. You’ll cover 21 kilometers with barely 100 meters of elevation gain – honestly one of the easiest days you’ll have on The French Way. After the big city vibes, you’re heading to tiny Hornillos del Camino, a proper little pilgrim village.

It’s quite the contrast from Burgos, but that’s part of the Camino magic – the constant shift between bustling cities and peaceful rural spots.

Not sure when to take rest days? Our eBook „Camino Francés for Beginners“ gives you practical advice on planning rest days, recognizing when your body needs a break, and choosing the best cities to take time off along the route.

Bottom line: An easy walking day – or the perfect excuse to spend an extra day exploring (or just relaxing in) Burgos. Your Camino, your choice!

Buen Camino! 🥾
