What You Need to Know About Stage 16

Your legs are gonna love you today! Stage 16 on the Camino de Santiago is one of those wonderfully short days – just 19 kilometers and around 4 hours of walking from Frómista to Carrión de los Condes.

Even better? It’s super flat! While you’ll get some great views of the Cantabrian coastal mountain range in the distance, you won’t actually have to climb much at all today. Your body definitely deserves this easier day after two weeks of walking.

You’ll be staying in Carrión de los Condes, a town that was once known for its wealth back in medieval times. It’s got some interesting history and nice spots to explore once you arrive early in the afternoon.

Pro tip: With such a short walking day, you’ll have plenty of time to relax, do laundry, explore the town, or just hang out with fellow pilgrims. These easier days are perfect for letting your body recover while still making progress on The French Way.

Wondering how to balance shorter and longer stages? Our eBook „Camino Francés for Beginners“ shows you how to structure your daily distances, when to push harder, and when to take it easy – helping you create a sustainable rhythm for your entire pilgrimage.

Bottom line: A short, flat, easy day that gives your body a break while still moving you closer to Santiago. Enjoy the extra downtime!

Buen Camino! 🥾
