What You Need to Know About Stage 31

This is huge: After today, you’ve only got THREE more days until Santiago! How crazy is that? Time flies when you’re walking 800 kilometers, right?

You’ve been on the Camino de Santiago for an entire month now, walking every single day. You’ve experienced highs and lows, challenges and triumphs. And here’s the thing – you’re definitely not the same person who started this journey four and a half weeks ago. The Camino changes you, whether you realize it yet or not.

Today’s terrain on The French Way: Stage 31 takes you 28 kilometers from Palas de Rei to Arzúa with a constant up-and-down rhythm. But the good news? There’s more downhill than uphill overall, so while 28 kilometers looks solid on paper, it’s not overwhelming at this point.

Your legs are Camino-strong now. What seemed impossible a month ago is just another day’s walk.

About Arzúa: This town is famous for its cheese – specifically, Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, a soft, creamy Galician specialty. If you’re a cheese lover, definitely grab some while you’re here! You’ve earned all the calories.

Getting emotional yet? With Santiago just three days away, a lot of pilgrims start feeling a mix of excitement, sadness, relief, and anxiety. It’s completely normal. You’ve been living this simple, purposeful life for a month, and soon it’ll be over. That’s a lot to process!

Preparing for life after the Camino? Our eBook „Camino Francés for Beginners“ addresses post-Camino blues, helps you process your experience, and offers advice on integrating what you’ve learned back into everyday life.

Bottom line: A solid but manageable day bringing you within striking distance of Santiago. Savor these final days – they’re precious!
