What You Need to Know About Stage 33
Today’s the day! You’re up early, wide awake, buzzing with energy and emotion. No need for an alarm clock – excitement (and maybe some nerves) will do the job.
Only 20 kilometers stand between you and the end of your five-week pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago. That’s it. Just one more morning of walking, and everything changes.
The approach to Santiago: From O Pedrouzo, you’ll climb gently upward to Monte do Gozo („Mount of Joy“), a monument marking where medieval pilgrims first caught sight of Santiago’s cathedral spires. There’s even a last accommodation option here if you want to split the final day, but most pilgrims push on.
From Monte do Gozo, it’s downhill into the city.
Entering Santiago: You’ll walk through the streets of this UNESCO World Heritage university city. The old town is beautiful, winding, magical. And then, after navigating the medieval streets…
THERE IT IS. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Right in front of you. After 800 kilometers, five weeks, countless blisters, sunrises, conversations, tears, and moments of pure joy – you’re standing in front of the cathedral.
This moment… it doesn’t need words. It just IS. 🙂
What people walk the Camino for: Faith, adventure, tourism, testing physical limits, meeting people, finding themselves, or simply being present. Whatever YOUR reason was, you did it. You walked The French Way. You’re a pilgrim. You made it to Santiago.
What happens next in Santiago? Our eBook „Camino Francés for Beginners“ guides you through everything: getting your Compostela certificate, attending the Pilgrim’s Mass, the botafumeiro ceremony, where to celebrate, and how to process this incredible achievement.
Bottom line: This is it. The final stage. The end of your Camino Francés. Walk it slowly, feel everything, and know that you’ve accomplished something truly extraordinary.
¡Buen Camino, Peregrino! 🥾⛪✨
You did it! Congratulations!
