What You Need to Know About Stage 4

Ready to kick it up a notch? Day 4 on the Camino de Santiago gets a bit more challenging again. You’ll cover 24 kilometers over nearly six hours, with around 375 meters of elevation gain – definitely more climbing than the last two days around Pamplona.

But trust us, the effort is totally worth it! Today’s stretch of The French Way has some real highlights waiting for you.

The Pilgrim Sculpture: You’ll pass one of the most photographed spots on the Camino – the famous pilgrim sculpture showing a line of pilgrims walking into the wind. Seriously iconic!

Alto del Perdón: After conquering the „Mountain of Forgiveness“ (Sierra del Perdón), you’ll be rewarded with amazing views.

The Bridge: Your destination, Puente de la Reina (literally „Bridge of the Queen“), features a stunning medieval bridge that’s an absolute eye-catcher.

Fun fact: Some people actually say the „real“ Camino Francés begins here in Puente de la Reina. Historically, this was a super important crossroads where four major routes from France merged into one path to Santiago. Pretty cool to think you’re walking where pilgrims have converged for over 900 years!
